(My brother just informed me that water-proof, water-repellant, and water-resistent are three consecutive words in my Merriam-Webster Dictionary)
Today is Tuesday. A week ago today I had two of my best friends visiting me from New York. Even though I am wary of the term "best friend" lately, there's no doubting that these two girls are special to me, and always will be. We had a really great time, and even though the time was short, the laughs were deep, the smiles were wide, and the tears were real (its fuzzy now what they were about but...). I can't believe its almost been a year since I graduated. As brave as I tried to pretend to be then, part of me was terrified at what the distance was going to do to some of the greatest friendships I have ever had. Just under 12 months later, I can't even count the vistits to and from the people I fell in love with at Marist. Each time plans are made to see someone, it just proves even more how there will never be a "last time." Even now, I'm awaiting another visit this weekend, and I couldn't be happier about it. Don't get me wrong. I understand that passion may fizzle. We'll move on, we'll grow into separate lives. Our private jokes will begin to seem distant, of another lifetime. Some of them already have. But if someday we go a year, or two, or heaven forbid even ten without seeing each other, I still get the feeling that in one second of sharing a smile with each other, somehow we'll always be right back at P2 in our hearts, singing our hearts out, laughing our lungs out, crying our eyes out, being "far too young and clever" like we always were. I can't believe I even tried to express what I feel for this family. Its a fallacy. Words will never ever be able to express.
